How to use QR Codes

First you need a scanner, there's a jillion free apps available.

Step 1 - Get the scanner for your smart phone.

From your smart phone, go to the "app store" or "market place" - ask your teenager if you don't know where it is.  There are plenty of excellent FREE QR code scanners.  On my android I went to Google Play Store, and downloaded QR BarCode Scanner by Warriors - it was free and works great.  On my blackberry I have QR Code Scanner Pro by The Jared Company (wonder if he makes the jewelry too?), also free.

You'll want to download and install it.

 

Step 2 - Open, point and scan.

I was surprised to learn that nobody is doing what I'm doing with QR codes & online payments.   When I scanned the Taco Bell QR code on their Dorito Taco, it opened to music videos!  I thought, "OMG!  Why aren't they selling tacos instead of sending people to Youtube?"

Why use QR Codes ?

To provide customers with a link to more information about your products or services.  To put more hits on your website, or send them to Youtube to watch a video.  Host a contest?? Tell customers the third one to read your code & post comment will get a prize.

The best suggestion I can offer, is use a QR Code to put money in your pocket.

No matter what business you're in, QR codes can serve as a payment mechanism.  Customers can and will pay you from their cell phones!  It sounds a futuristic - BUT it's here now and available.  Why not learn about it?  Mom entrepreneur Gabby, CEO of GumDropSwap posted a comment & won, one of two mobile payment apps I'm giving away.  She said, "I'm a sucker for free stuff and I'm curious to see how this works so let's give a whirl.  Never can have too many ways the customer can pay you."  What she doesn't know is she's actually getting two apps.  One for sending money and one for receiving payments.  As a consignment store owner, if she desires - when it's time to pay her customer their consignments - she can whip out her mobile phone and send the money with her custom app, complete with her logo.

Place QR Codes any & every where

On back of books, counter tops, windows, automobiles, tables, invoices.  Business that can benefit from use QR codes & mobile payment apps: Restaurants, Hair Salons, Doctors Offices, Flea Markets, Avon Ladies, Plumbers, Roofers, Photographers.  Basically anybody.
