What advice or inspiration can you offer other moms wanting to start their own business?: Go for it. We just had an idea and figured out how to do it. Ask a lot of questions so you only make very small mistakes :)

Tell us about yourself & your family:: We are two moms that became friends when our boys started kindergarten. With kids of similar ages, we enjoy doing things with our friends and community. We had an idea and decided to go for it!

What do you do for fun? : We have five kids between us and we are very involved in all our kids activities. We also like to make dinners and enjoy a glass of wine!

Tell us about your business. What do you do or sell, etc?: Krazy Ketchup is Organic, with added organic veggies: carrot, squash & sweet potato, no HFCS and sweetened with agave

What made you get into the business?: We created Krazy Ketchup when our toddlers decided to give up veggies and couldn't find a healthy great tasting ketchup in the marketplace.

What was the biggest challenge in starting your business?: learning the ins and outs of the grocery business since neither of us came into this with a background in it.

I just read one of Cathy Stucker's emails and she gave some awesome tips on how to get content for your blog! One way is to sign up for google alerts. Simply put in the key words you want and it will let you know when an article or a resource comes up! http://www.google.com/alerts

Another way is to take your old content and put a new twist or spin on it. What is something new you can add to it to make it current?

She also mentioned going to Youtube and searching for awesome videos on your topic. You can simply embed them into your site and write a few words about them!

It made virtual headlines around the globe as bloggers speculated the end of the earth was upon us.

I had this handy little tool created so that I could search for a keyword and retweet the results if desired. I hope you find it useful.

 

First you'll have to give permission for the tool to access your twitter account. When you're inside type any word into the search box. For example "Entrepreneur." When the tool brings back the results; the following options are available:

 

• -Retweet individual tweets
• -Retweet all
• -Follow those in search results

 

Great way to retweet your friends tweets or those of your own - just log in with a different account.

QR Codes - How to Use Them

How to use QR Codes

First you need a scanner, there's a jillion free apps available.

Step 1 - Get the scanner for your smart phone.

From your smart phone, go to the "app store" or "market place" - ask your teenager if you don't know where it is.  There are plenty of excellent FREE QR code scanners.  On my android I went to Google Play Store, and downloaded QR BarCode Scanner by Warriors - it was free and works great.  On my blackberry I have QR Code Scanner Pro by The Jared Company (wonder if he makes the jewelry too?), also free.

You'll want to download and install it.

 

Step 2 - Open, point and scan.

I was surprised to learn that nobody is doing what I'm doing with QR codes & online payments.   When I scanned the Taco Bell QR code on their Dorito Taco, it opened to music videos!  I thought, "OMG!  Why aren't they selling tacos instead of sending people to Youtube?"

Why use QR Codes ?

To provide customers with a link to more information about your products or services.  To put more hits on your website, or send them to Youtube to watch a video.  Host a contest?? Tell customers the third one to read your code & post comment will get a prize.

The best suggestion I can offer, is use a QR Code to put money in your pocket.

No matter what business you're in, QR codes can serve as a payment mechanism.  Customers can and will pay you from their cell phones!  It sounds a futuristic - BUT it's here now and available.  Why not learn about it?  Mom entrepreneur Gabby, CEO of GumDropSwap posted a comment & won, one of two mobile payment apps I'm giving away.  She said, "I'm a sucker for free stuff and I'm curious to see how this works so let's give a whirl.  Never can have too many ways the customer can pay you."  What she doesn't know is she's actually getting two apps.  One for sending money and one for receiving payments.  As a consignment store owner, if she desires - when it's time to pay her customer their consignments - she can whip out her mobile phone and send the money with her custom app, complete with her logo.

On back of books, counter tops, windows, automobiles, tables, invoices.  Business that can benefit from use QR codes & mobile payment apps: Restaurants, Hair Salons, Doctors Offices, Flea Markets, Avon Ladies, Plumbers, Roofers, Photographers.  Basically anybody.
